Essay 4

Second Semester

Now that the first semester is coming to a close, It is time to start picking classes for the second semester. I plan to do a lot better next semester then the first one. I already talked to my advisor and know what classes I will be taking next semester. After talking to my advisor, I figured out my plan for second semester and my sophomore year. Everything else in my residence hall is fine. I have no complaints.

In order to do better next semester I plan to make better decisions picking what times my classes are. First semester I have an 8:00am class. Next semester I will make my class at 9:00am. I also have to plan my classes so I can still make it to ultimate Frisbee practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The last thing I have to plan around is my work schedule. I work on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. I also have to be interested the classes I’m taking so I will enjoy them and do better in them.

When I had my advisor meeting we talked about the classes that I should take next semester. I really didn’t have a lot of options for picking classes. I just had to pick the next class up from the one I’m already taking. I’m going to be taking English 110C, MATH 162, CS 150, and two general education classes of my choosing. I will be taking 15 credits next semester.

While taking to my advisor, I basically figured out that I will try to get my general education classes out of the way my freshmen and sophomore years. Then work on courses for my major my junior and senior years. This way if I decide to change majors I won’t have to waste a lot of money because I got all of my general education classes out the way. Then if I do decide to change my major I can just start taking my major specific courses my junior and senior years.

As for any complaints about the resident halls I don’t really have any. Everything is great so far. The food in the Rodgers cafe is good. I like my roommate and the residents that live on my hall. Everyone on my hall are really good friends and we hangout a lot. Some of us also have the same classes so we help each other out and study together.

In Conclusion I feel like I am ready for second semester.

Essay 1

The transition for high school to college can be different for everybody. Some can transition easily, and others not so much. It can be hard sometimes to adjust because you are living on your own, and you have no one telling you what to do. Some necessary changes that I think are required for you to do succeed in college are to be responsible, great time management, and staying healthy.

To be responsible is go to class on time, do your homework, and study for your test. If you start to slack off and get lazy, it will show in your grades and test scores. If you are having trouble staying determined to go to class and study for your test, I would try to remember the reason I’m going to college. And I would think about how much better my life would be and how much better of a job I could get if I got my college degree.

The next thing you need to be able to do to be successful in college, is the ability to have great time management. Having good time management means to manage all the things you have to do, so you don’t miss deadlines and due dates. It is also important so you don’t have fifty things to do in one night and there all due tomorrow. If you have great time management you will have time to do all the things you have to do and have time to relax.

The last thing I would suggest to be successful in college is to stay healthy. It is important to stay healthy so that you can stay awake in class and have the energy just to do everyday activities. Some ways you can stay healthy are by eating breakfast every day and eating the right foods. If you don’t eat the right foods you will not get all the vitamins your body needs to function. Working out is also a good way to stay healthy. Working out also makes you feel better and have more energy during the day, or you can play a sport to stay in shape.

The transition to college can be tough one if you don’t have support from family and friends. But if you are responsible, have good time management, and stay healthy, you will have a better and easier transition into college.
